The menu is a stripped down version of what it used to be. I had a steak and if I had known it would be so small (the menu didn't have a weight and the server didn't know either) I would have passed on it. It took forever to get food, the bowl with my mac cheese was extremely hot but the mac cheese was cold in the middle. I didn't attempt to return it as it had already taken over 30 minutes to get our food even though they were not busy. The loaded baked potato was pretty good although it was a little less loaded than what you find at most restaurants. I remember when this restaurant was one of my favorite stops when traveling through the area but it has definitely taken a turn for the worst. My daughter had the chicken stir fry it was all stir fry with very little chicken. All I can say is I'm not impressed and won't be stopping or recommending the Iron Skillet to friends traveling.
Had lunch at The Iron Skillet today. First and last time! They told us when we arrived that they were short handed and there would be a wait. No problem. After 45 minutes our club sandwiches arrive. While my sandwich was fine, my husband's sandwich had bread burnt black. We didn't have another 45 minutes to wait, so he ate what he could. We paid the bill including a tip and I put a note on the receipt about the burnt bread. As we were leaving I could see one of the female servers reading the note. She showed it to the male server and he laughed! Apparently this is funny when it is not your sandwich.
I ordered the T-Bone steak with a baked potato. I specifically asked for a medium well done steak. The steak looked like it was cooked to perfection. However, upon cutting into the steak and trying to eat in dim light, I normally try to eat in a relaxed comfortable environment such as candle light dinner, I started to wonder why I was having difficulty cutting and chewing what appeared to be a well cooked steak. So, I turned on all the lights to discover that the steak was raw. I instantly felt sick to my stomach. Fortunately, I had breakfast and snacks while I drove my shift. I just finished off the baked potato, which was delicious by the way, and discarded the raw meat. If you’re wondering why I just didn’t take it back. I’m a commercial driver and I was tried. My work schedule consists of 14 hour days including 11 hours of driving. I’m allowed 10 hours of rest before starting my day over. I have an early departure time tomorrow to keep on time schedule. All I wanted was to eat, feed my fur baby, and go to bed. So, I hope that management sees this and please offer advice to the chef on how to cook medium well done steak especially when charging $32 dollars for a steak meal.
Ordered the American Standard burger and a side of Mac and Cheese. Absolutely amazing.
