Bidra med feedbackHaving lived in Italy for the last 7 years and travelled and eaten gelato from Sicily to Rome, from Florence to Milan to Padua, I have to say that this gelato is some of the best I've had. The pistachio and the dark chocolate are both splendid, the lemon perfect and of the seasonal flavors I've yet to try one that I didn't enjoy. The staff is helpful and polite a rarity in the summer season when the people behind the counter are often terse and exhausted. If you're anywhere near Lago di Varese, I can't think of a better place to enjoy one of Italy's specialties.
I have to admit, this being my third trip to Italy, I just didn't understand what all the fuss about gelato was. Until now, it just seemed like a soft ice cream to me. I love ice cream, so what's not to love about gelato? Then I experienced Il Muretto now I get it! I am no gelato expert, but this gelato (tiramisu coco flavors) must be what all the fuss is about. After sampling at least dozens of different gelaterrias over the years, I have found the one that puts Gelato on the map. Il Muretto is just a storefront counter on a thru street in the village of Gavirate, but the constant flow of customers to this place proves that the locals value it as well.
We only went for a coffee before we went to the pumpkin party and came back after for the ice cream that was simply delicious, felt all its freshness and genuineness. Surely we'll be back next time we're in Gavirate.
Very friendly owner and nice food. Better than all commercial restaurants around! Especially the lasagna.
The Rosticceria il Muretto is a real berry hidden in a narrow alley of the port of Pilarella of Porto Santo Stefano, the food is exquisite and also organizes catering for events. Federico, the owner, is a golden boy who gives himself to do from morning to evening and who puts passion in what he does ensuring a five-star service and quality! Recommended
