Kato - Gatineau

Great experience. Excellent food, very good service despite the restaurant being full. Everything was delicious from the Tuna Tartar to the Chef’s Sashimi platter to the fries in the side of the Wagyu Sliders. Drinks were proper. Given all the food and drinks we had, I was ok with the pricing as well. Great experience all around.

Unfortunately our experience was not what we’d hoped it would be. First of all, the chairs at the tables are uncomfortable, thin seat, but deep so you’re either slouching forward or sitting way back. Any attention to our table was halted after we got our food. No one came back to check on us or fill our water. Took longer than ideal to get our bill. The food was alright but not worth the price. Music was quite a bit louder than it had to be. The sangria, was excellent but unfortunately one of the only pluses. Disappointing as we had high hopes.

We were shown to the last desirable table by the cash register. We asked if we could move to a more central table and we’re told “No, it was reserved. “ (We did notice it was not occupied the whole time we were there. The second issue was the pricing, quite expensive. From there it was all uphill as our server was delightful and attentive and the food was outstanding and delivered hot. We had the cod and the lamb. Absolutely heavenly!

Food quality was excellent, drinks are excellent. Not cheap but you do pay for quality

Food was really good, sushi was a bit underwhelming.
