Bidra med feedbackI've eaten twice. The first time was the club sandwich. Excellent. The second time was soup and salad. Also very good. Good service. Overall very good for an airport.
This restaurant has a bar and pub style atmosphere and offers a wide variety of drinks, but has a limited food menu. I tried the club sandwich and found it to be delicious, made with real chicken instead of processed meat. The portion size was smaller than expected but still satisfying. The prices were reasonable.
Gander airport is where your transatlantic plane gets diverted when a passenger needs removing for his drunken 'rage. ' It has one of the world 's longest runways able to handle the space shuttle as an alternative landing strip when they flew. And, it 's an...airport with the greatest experience at transatlantic flight [unless you count the Botwood, NL, flying-boat 'pond ' from which Pan Am 's first commercial transatlantic flights departed (before my time! . Slightly younger folks might even remember the obligatory stop at Gander to refuel when about the only way to get to to LHR/Heathrow was aboard a DC-10 'tho I do recall Bangor as a winter alternative when NL was under a whiteout. All these are superlatives. The Beech is firmly a central part of the old (domestic-side terminal at YQX. It 's hardly in the highest tier even for bar/grilles in airport terminals. But, and here 's the most important part of this review, When you are stranded in Gander regardless of the reason and waiting for a replacement flight then The Beech is a lifesaver. You 'll get fare such as spaghetti, chicken wings, and flash-fried bar-menu with a cold Labatt Blue to down it. So ... when you next find yourself stranded at YQX some late afternoon (knowing that the last AC flight out, to anywhere, leaves at about 1500 hrs. , then to have a bar such as The Beech means that you 'll get through the night. Now that 's the best reason I can think of to give an airport bar a rating of five stars.
This is a small bar located in the main lobby. Dinner is served from Weston's kitchen. The staff can be hit or miss, with some being great. It's best to only order the drinks that others are enjoying, as I have already had two beers there! This place is good for meetings and events, as they are willing to accommodate changes to the menu with advance notice.
I enjoyed some beers and nachos at the small, cozy bar while waiting for our flight. Despite not being able to get a table without pigeons nearby, the friendly service and reasonable prices made for a pleasant experience.
