Fantasticks Rio - Gaithersburg

Fantasticks takes gelato and popsicles to the next level. I've indulged there many times since they opened last summer and have never been disappointed. Their popsicles are about 6 7 which seems like a lot, but their popsicles are truly amazing and topped with your choices of drizzles and candies. The gelato is equally as delicious. Their smallest cup seems small but is super filling and satisfying.

Popsicles are really cute and a more unique experience than anything else they offer, so if you’re gonna pay for overpriced ice cream it should be on those. however their gelatos are good, just not worth the price in my opinion.

Gelato was very good. The staff did not engage with each other, one young woman scratched her head while waiting on a customer no glove. The staff didn’t seem to enjoy their work a third employee arrived with a smile . A bit uncomfortable .

This place went downhill FAST! As you walk in there are empty and beat up ice cream bins right at the front door. Place looks like it hasn’t been mopped in weeks. Staff incredibly rude and lack any service whatsoever. Their toppings were almost all empty and you can tell ownership is absent or totally careless. The girl at the front was sitting down watching tv on her phone not even realizing people are in line to pay and are staring at her to acknowledge them. Disaster from A to Z. Will NEVER go back. Another place that will most likely shutter at RIO due to poor product and service.

I went on Sunday afternoon over Memorial Day weekend to take advantage of my Yelp Elite gelato bar. The array of choices was staggering! So many flavors. I eventually settled on the banana with a Nutella filling, then added the dark chocolate dip and crushed almonds and crushed graham crackers toppings. It was a calorie extravaganza and worth every single one. Absolutely delicious. I just wish I'd remembered to take a picture before I began to devour it! I would most definitely go back again. Highly recommend!
