So Far Bistro Steakhouse - Funchal

The guy outside said it was quality it was. For once glad we took his advice. Steak was excellent the mushroom risotto was fabulous. All washed down with a nice house red. Recommended. Will go back if time permits.

Don’t be put off by the rather bland entrance. Restaurant upstairs, is large, spacious and very attractive. The food here was just superb. I cannot recommend the fish soup enough. It was the best I have had anywhere, and could easily and happily had more as a main course. So saying, the lamb tagine was also excellent. We were the only diners there in a Tuesday evening, which was a shame as it did feel a little empty. We were in Funchal for 2 weeks and visited various restaurants in the old town, all except one were excellent, but this one which is a little more central is certainly worth visiting and had we found it earlier, would have visited more. They have only been open a year, and really deserve to do well. Well recommended.

Like the previous reviewer, I too had a reservation for this restaurant and was let down. So we really can’t pass comment on the food. It was interesting though how when walking past the restaurant on the same evening it was open and inviting people in from the street. Very strange.But in a city with so many excellent and outstanding restaurants don’t risk being let down at this mediocre one.

Great food experience in an outstanding place! The restaurant is very well decorated and clean. When you enter you're presented to the space by a person , indicated smoking, drinking and toilet area. After that a waiter will lead you to your table and then... Magic happens! Great service by any staff, and a divine dinner by the chef. Will definitely come back to try more dished from the menu!
