The Mountainside and Bill’s Ranch area of Frisco, Colorado is perhaps the best all-around location in Summit County. It is located within walking distance of main street, is adjacent to the bike path and minutes from hiking and mountain-biking trails into the Ten Mile Range and the Colorado Trail. What sets Mountainside apart aside from its great location is that it is an older but very well maintained condo and town home development. Most of the newer developments in the area are squeezed into small spaces that used to contain older buildings in town that have been scraped and redeveloped lacking the space and character of original complexes like Mountainside. Mountainside is on the edge of town bordering national forest and although it has a lot of units, it is spread out with a LOT of open space, parking and amenities. The complex even has a stream running through the middle of the condo complex grounds full of fingerling trout proficing endless entertainment for kids.
It's a place to stay to skip your brain, whether the hot tubs don't work.
Nice place, nice recommendations to restaurants, and I think I might have had my best sleep here. Definitely come back, much love from Norway!
Place is okay, but real estate management is terrible. Don't count on getting something solid when it's bucks. There are common facilities shared by all lodges. Some things don't work in these places. I called the property management that had a hangout in the common room and the lady on the phone was simply unfriendly and tried to get rid of me. She said to call me back when I had the exact name of the place, I gave the street and the house number here, but that wasn't enough. When I tried to recall the exact name of the facility, my number was blocked by real estate management.
For 13 years we have spent our winter in the Mountainside complex. We love the location and the clubhouse. However, they do not seem to hold a maintenance manager on site for more than a few years. Every time they change managers, there is a certain lack of understanding how this place works. This season we are out to a functional hot tub. Several phone calls to the Buffalo Mountain Management Company complain about the lack of hot water in the showers, whirlpools do not work, etc. get no answer. From this place and its lack of maintenance very tired.
