Boom Boom is the greatest eating experience ever!!!! Wonderful service, our favorite treat!
My wife and I went to Asuka Japanese Cuisine, recommended by a friend, Mei, and the tea was out of this world, one of the best green teas I have ever had. We had the Jalapeño Bomb and Calimari Ring, they were ok and I had Chirashi, Tako (octopus) shashimi and a cucumber salad and she had a Scallop Crunch Roll. The roll came with rice not sushi rice, was more of a California roll with Scallops in it and a deep fried tempura whole bay scallop on top and special sauce. It was loose and fell apart. The pictured bill was what through me off. The appetizers are both listed as are the 2 tea and the cucumber salad but the sushi isn't itemized and well it just says Sushi 50.85 as pictured. The Chirashi I think was 17.95 and the Tako (octopus) shashimi was 6.95, it's a two piece roll ; maybe as none of the shashimi are listed as individuals, just as small 11.95; Medium 18.95; Chef Special 69.99 Also listed are Special Shashimi: Spicy Tuna Plate 10.95 Seared Tuna 10.95 Seared Albacore 14.95 There is a separate list for shashimi that is with last year's menu on the outside of the restaurant on a wall. It's listed as the old menu which is the one on every menu websites for the Fresno area. For what I paid for two people, it was a little pricey. The staff was great and the tea was out standing. The overall ambiance of the restaurant shows pride and looks classy. I figured out the total of the sushi I had was 37.85, they put 50.85. I just wanted to know what the 13.00 difference was.
I really wanted to love this place but as far as sushi places go...it's not the best but not the worst. Service was fine, the lady did mess up a few things(ordered us an extra appetizer, forgot someone's sushi roll) but since we were a party of 8 we just rolled with it. Tuna sashimi was great. Not the best quality in California but for Fresno it was very good. My roll was not what I had hoped, although they do a very light tempura batter compared to other places that have a thick batter that makes it difficult to eat. Everyone seemed pretty happy with the portions/prices. I do love fried cream cheese anything but I would reserve that for another restaurant, this one would be nice for a quick bite of sashimi, tuna or salmon specifically. Love the family owned atmosphere and regulars who are happy and well received is always a great sign!
I was craving sushi, but my usual spots are on the other side of town so I found this spot and wanted to give it a try. They're a smaller establishment with cool decor. There was another party when we were, but it seems like they get a lot of call-in orders. Their sushi seems to not have a lot ingredients. Very simple. I ordered the red and red roll, which is suppose to contain spicy tuna, avocado, green onion, and masago. It had a chili emoji next to the name that it was spicy, but it was far from that. It was so bland. Had no flavor. It didn't have any of those ingredients that it said it did. We also ordered spicy garlic edamames and dumplings. Those two items were okay. The service wasn't bad. Our servers were kind.
