The Garden Cafe - Forest of Dean

Spent Valentine's eve here with my wife. The company were entertained by a delightful young woman who played her harp with skill and passion, a wonderful accompaniment to a splendid meal. Holly really knows how to prepare, cook and serve food; it's clear that the process is a labour of love for her. Matthew is great on the bar and an attentive waiter. The whole meal was a festival of flavour and everything was done to perfection. And the prices are so reasonable. A truly magical evening and one we shall cherish. We'll definitely be coming back for more.

We found this by accident but what fantastic food was served up. Definitely will be back.

Attended for a ladies lunch. Food was pleasant although plain sandwiches and cake with tea. Garden interesting with a variety of roses. Relaxing venue potential to be a retreat.

Recently visited the garden cafe for Sunday afternoon nibbles with a party of friends and was very impressed with the unique restaurant, which is a large open plan room with the kitchen and bar at one end of the room, which enjoys low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. The food was tasty and as we were having a buffet type lunch, there was a multitude of tasty tapas type dishes to choose from. I will definitely go there again over the next few weeks.. Highly recommended.

We visited for lunch on a Sunday in early September. The kitchen supplies were low and there wasn't much for the kids to eat. With the owner/waitress we worked out something they would all like. She picked a cucumber from the garden and eggs from her hens. The adults had the ribiera burger and a cider from the fridge. I do believe this was the best burger I have had in my life. It was just perfect. The setting is a garden with an eclectic collection of tables and chairs. Everything was a little wobbly on the uneven paving and gravel (this didn't bother us, it's a feature of the place). All the food was delicious. The owner has a fairly direct manner in dealing with people and I could understand how others might misinterpret this, but we thought she was marvellous and appreciated everything she did for us. I will definitely visit here again.
