A Bite of Shandong - Forest Lake

Unique mainland China restaurant where they hand make the noodles and dumplings. The flavour is pretty cool and I enjoy coming here for it. Owners can be arrogant which really taints the whole experience.

Some great dishes and some not so great.  Would recommend the pig head meat (let's call it pork cheek) and slapped cucumber, cold steamed noodles and jumbo oysters.  Wasn't impressed with the lamb skewers at all though. The taste wasn't quite right and a fellow diner queried if what he was eating was lamb, which... Overall it was okay.  Authentic Shandong flavours and pretty good service for the area.

Very pleased with this authentic Shandong cuisine. Don't be put off by the decor as it may look a little old school, but oh my! THE FOOD IA AMAZING and priced reasonably. Must try the flat rice sheets/noodles in sesame sauce, delicious!

Had dinner at this place last Thursday. Fortunately, we arrived at 6:00pm and the whole restaurant was full house after half an hour. Ordered the Special Steamed Cold Wide Noodles, Stir Fry Pork Kidney, Pighead Meat with Cucumber and BBQ Lamb in Skewers. I have not had Pighead meat for over 30 years. It was so tasty and refreshing with the slightly patted cucumber, which was the traditional way of preparing cucumber for this salad rather than just diced them. Noodles were done with right proportion of sesame paste and vinegar. Pork kidney was slightly overdone (well done) but it might be the way of Shandong. Heros of the night were those skewers with generous portions of lamb and cummins. They were all freshly grilled to perfection. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly and sincere. Local gem!

I enjoy the food in the "a bite of Shangdong" restaurant. The food is really tasty. I even got a free noodle soup from the restaurant for my Birthday that day. But there is only one thing I don't really like is that the table is not big enough for six people. It's a bit crowed for us to eat in a small table. Other than that, everything is perfect.
