Bidra med feedbackAs far as I can tell, Shangri-La is one of those suburban Chinese restaurants that have stood the test of time. The decor and menu offering, especially the Sunday specials have been around since day one. Every Sunday, the chef serves up a Chinese/Malaysian specialty(s) for lunch and you can tell that's when the regular patrons flock in, usually after morning church service.<br/ <br/ As for us, Shangri-La sets the benchmark for their fish head noodle soup. No place can beat these guys. The fish head is beautifully deep-fried and the soup is perfectly balanced with the right amount of tang from the preserved vegetables and tomatoes.
The classic old timer Ozzie Chinese restaurant. Spacious but basic decor. U won 't be coming or bringing your friends here to bask on the ambience. LOL. <br/ <br/ This is the local friendly Chinese restaurant that will give u warm, family feel and lovely services. Kids friendly. Come here often enough and they will even remember your name and 'usual '. This the the place that offer a plethora of selections so wide, it 's a challenge for newcomers. <br/ <br/ Me and my wife come her for 1 thing and 1 thing only. The Fish Noodle, Yue Yuk Mai Fun. . While Shang La Inn has a range of decent quality food, the fish noodle is the one that stands out for me. The perfect balance of sour gingery soup with generous flakes of deep fried fish slices. Looks great, smells great and taste so satisfying wonderful. <br/ <br/ Siu mai and other ad hoc yumcha offering are terrible (sorry Shangri La Inn) ...because I 'm pretty sure it 's not made by the chef. Maybe one of those frozen ones they bought in bulk from wholesaler. <br/ <br/ Ps. The prawn cracker at the front desk nice. <br/ <br/ Rating 4 is because I like it and always come out smiling when I finish. <br/ <br/
14 December 2016: haven't been here for a while as it is 20 mins from my house. Always loved the curry laksa here. This morning was no exception. Definitely 5* for this dish
Good service<br/ good food<br/ good variety<br/ decent prices<br/ <br/ Cant complain, will definitely come back
Shangri-La Inn is very dated Chinese restaurant in terms of decor but the menu includes all traditional dishes and is inexpensive. The staff are friendly and service is very quick. The food is fresh and tasty and portions being the perfect size. Gold Leaf is our go to for delicious Chinese food, but Shangri-La Inn is good if your not looking for anything to fancy. <br/ <br/ TIP: Do order the Satay Chicken Skewers and the Prawns with Black Bean Sauce.
