Bidra med feedbackI read the reviews before I went to this restaurant and the only thing I liked was the friendliness of the waitress. the meal was terrible. we had a tired brownish salad with a lot of vinaiigrette, huh, which was eaten in a kind of...tasteless soak and a ratatouille with a disgusting bitter taste. Never.
Don’t let the other reviews fool you! We visited one evening hoping for a delicious meal after reading the previous reviews. We were met with utter disappointment. When noticing the grease dripping down the outside wall on approaching the property we should have turned around...and left immediately. Unfortunately we have it the benefit of the doubt and wish we hadn’t. The steak was not cooked as requested and my girlfriends food was so poor she could not eat it. The staff were unwilling to compromise with us on our little French and were outright rude. Avoid at all costs.
Simple food, cooked to perfection. We're staying just outside the village, and are so lucky to have this place up the road. We stopped by earlier in the day, and asked when they opened for dinner. 7 o'clock is the norm, but seeing we were...hoping for earlier (with a tired five year old) they were happy to open up 30 minutes early. Good local restaurant atmosphere inside nothing too fancy but clean and very friendly. Menus short and sweet. Just as I like it, shows they don't carry large amounts of frozen stock and let's them concentrate on what they do. We had the local Limousin steak which was a beautiful piece of meat. They didn't have the dauphinoise potatoes available so we had to have chips. A slight disappointment, until the chips arrived which were the best I can remember eating. Proper home made old fashioned chips that tasted unlike everything else you get nowadays. A small selection of desserts we shared a tarte and ice cream, because they hadn't done the profiteroles yet (much to my wife's disappointment). However, having paid up and left we walked around the village for 5 10 minutes to help the food go down. On passing the restaurant they asked us to wait a minute. The chef then came out with freshly cooked profiteroles on the house not only an incredibly generous thing to do, but they were stunning ! Very reasonable pricing €50 for three of us, including wine and tip. For the quality of the food and the atmosphere a bargain. Would thoroughly recommend.
Has been under new ownership for a few weeks now and not sure about the motive behind review by lindarichardcpr but don't believe their experience was normal. The dining room is clean and well presented, as is the rest of the bar and the service...is friendly and professional and the menu more than adequate. They do a fixed menu as well as a la carte in the evening and a plate de jour at lunchtime. It is open pretty much all day every day and whether just a coffee or a meal it is a welcoming atmosphere with plenty of regular local custom in the form of individuals, couples and families. That says it all. It is now run by a very nice French family. We dine there regularly and enthusiastically take visiting friends. Highly recommended.
The food was great and the welcome received from the owners amazing. Not only was our whole table smiling throughout, but everyone at the other tables was too. This is the sign of a great place to eat and relax for an awesome family meal....(Would have been a 5 if there were a few more vegetarian options)
