Bidra med feedbackWe’ve visited the Hawarden Estate Farm shop on two occasions now and loved spending time there. The shop in which you enter is lovely and the coziness of the fire in the restaurant is so nice even in the summer! However be warned you will end up smelling like smoke! We brought our daughter to the little growers club and had a fantastic time! The two gentleman running it were so knowledgeable and really let our daughter get stuck in! We picked loads of fruit and veg that we got to take home and planted a few plants! We also did the trail which was lovely to explore the estate a bit more. The second visit We went to the forage and make class hosted by Mia and it was fab! We made nature Wands and crowns and Mia was so lovely, our daughter absolutely loved it. Was so nice to get outside exploring and then get creative! I would say the only downfall of the place is the pricing of the food. Everything is organic and grown there however it is very steep in price. The food has been enjoyable but just expensive. The Apple juice is freshly squeezed and is lush but again, expensive! Def would recommend a visit here though, loads of activities, exploring, and fruit picking to be done!
Today was a delight. Harden open day to the Castle Tower after climbing to see the fabulous view from the top it gave us an appetite so we had tea and lovely home made teacakes in the Farm Shop We noticed that they had Delicatessen counter so we bought two meat pies to take home best thing we had EVER had WOW EXCEPTIONAL.
Felt compelled to write a review after reading a couple of recent negative reviews. If you enjoy a frozen Asda pizza, this isn’t the place for you. The farm shop is beautiful and a breath of fresh air for the area. The food is delicious, of exceptional quality and the service is great. Always greeted with a smile and served quickly. The pizzas are lovely, thin base, soft dough and quality ingredients. The cakes are also outstanding best jam and cream doughnut I’ve ever eaten. Well worth a trip and great for kids. My one year old is always welcomed with a smile and the kids menu is great too. Big field for kids to run around and a play area with a fun trail around the camp site.
Making a visit having not been for several months and hoping for an improved experience. Slowish table service, impassive check out, loud intrusive music, very little local produce in the shop. Overall a fairly underwhelming visit...again. The coffee and brownies were good though but will leave it several months before returning, if ever.
We stopped at the farm shop/cafe on our way back from staying at Poultry Cottage near Powys. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly lady who explained the setup and took our order. The food was fantastic - I opted for the salt beef hash with grilled egg for breakfast, a unique but delicious choice. The dish consisted of salted pulled beef, onion, spinach, crispy new potatoes, and a perfectly cooked egg on top. Although the portion was very generous, I sadly couldn't finish it all. My husband raved about his bacon sandwich, claiming it was the best he had ever tasted. We enjoyed a lovely cup of tea made with real tea leaves, which was a nice touch. We also purchased some cheese and tomatoes from the shop, but decided against the sourdough bread as we're not fans. Despite the slightly higher prices, we felt it was worth paying for the quality of the food. After reading some negative reviews online, we were surprised as our experience was nothing but positive. We plan on returning when we are in the area again.
