Bidra med feedbackI was here with an organised group as the only gluten allergic person, so I brought my own gluten free muffins to part take in coffee and cake. Good call, as there was just one sort of ordinary cake available. As soon as I sat down and open the package the angriest Norwegian guy alive (aka the seller stood right before me and told me angrily to put it away (rude, but understandable without context . After explaining my allergic needs he said I should have called beforehand if I wanted gluten free cake (how should I know? . After dressing me down he just left very helpful. Continued to eat outside in the soft rain still a better feeling than my time in this hut. Who when regarding allergic needs is as cold as the glacier nearby should in no way be supported.
It is not too often that you can enjoy lunch or dinner with a full view over a glacier. This restaurant is a quite typical Norwegian road-diner, but the scenery is exceptional. Good and plenty of food with glutenfree options.
I bought a cup of tea. I’d thought that hot water refills were free but when I tried to get more hot water I was accosted by the cashier and given a dirty look for not paying. Apparently it’s 10 NOK “just like for refilling coffee”. Also there wasn’t any food at 930am except some leftovers from the previous day in the glass case. Interactions like these can easily ruin an otherwise beautiful morning.
We had lunch in this restaurant and the experience couldn't be more positive. The views of the glacier are outstanding and the food (burger salads) were really nice. And the staff is very helpful and nice. Fantastic environment for having lunch in the Fjærland valley
I would say that this is more observation deck than a restaurant. Some food is available but mostly it's about snacks. Worth mentioning that their apple pie is really good.
