Gasthaus Echo - Filzmoos

This restaurant is very busy and reservations are recommended. The great food is the attraction. Had meat strudel soup which was delicious and unique. The venison tournedos were excellent and satisfying. Cosy rustic dining room with friendly service.

If you have kids and are not staying at the Kinderhotel this is the place for you! They have a huge playground- most importantly it's away from the street- so you can just sit across and enjoy your drinks and food in peace while...watching your kids play. The food is about more then another Gasthof BUT the price is worth for what you are getting. Food is fresh and nicely presented. Service is very accommodating. Negative: if you really want something, it would be the salad bar. It's right by the restrooms... This place is highly recommended by our family to yours. ENJOY!

Sadly tourist get ripped off here. Very expensive, but does not deliver quality for the price. For example a Wiener Schnitzel which must be by definition from veal, is offered here for (normal price for veal). When asked if it's from veal we were...told it's pork. Then asked why it's so expensive: is it a special pork from around here (organic, Duroc etc)? They just said, it's plain pork, but from this area. When asked from where exactly we were told they don't know and to be honest they don't even know if it's Austrian meat!!! @Restaurant owner: if your meat comes from the Gosau area, why don't you write that on the menu card? And that was one of the cheap dishes here everything costs about to more than most restaurants in Bad Ischl or Abtenau, which have much nicer scenery. Also the drinks are hugely overpriced. There is a reason why you don't find the menu card on their website. Also you must get your salad yourself in the first floor, directly next to the toilets! Disgusting as it is already, that's a no-go in times.

We have been coming here for many years and have Never had any problems with the food. It has always been very tasty and the price has been worth the taste and portions. Wir gehen schon seit Jahren hier essen und haben immer sehr...gute Erfahrungen gemacht. Das Essen ist frisch und Total Lecker! Preisleistung stimmt auch! Ausserdem sind die Wirtsleit freundlich und zuvorkommend..

I would like to say that I felt that the food was very good at Gasthaus Echo but it was just average. My Bavarian friend and I were excited to have traditional Austrian fair featuring deer and wild boar. While the dinners were home made,...they were reheated leftovers. The two of us were the only diners there on a Saturday night. The wines by the glass were good. While I recommend Gasthaus Echo, be prepared to pay top dollar for perhaps not fresh food not enough clientel perhaps. Two other dining choices in the valley we tried were not as good as Echo.
