Golden Chip - Fife

I recently shared a black pudding supper and a red pudding supper with my husband at this restaurant and it was absolutely delicious! It was the best I have tasted in years. We will definitely be returning.

This restaurant experience was absolutely terrible, to put it mildly. I have no idea what I was served, but it was definitely not what I ordered. The chips were dry and flavorless, and the red pudding was unlike anything I have ever tasted before. It was overcooked on the outside and mushy on the inside (which I've never experienced with red pudding), and it had a strange smoked fish smell and taste. When I called to let them know about my disappointment, the woman on the phone seemed completely uninterested. Overall, I would rate this experience as garbage.

I have been going to this fish and chip shop for years, and it has always been consistently good, even with delivery. The food is great and the service is excellent.

I struggle to even figure out why the delivery service is so bad. Had to wait more than 2 hours for a delivery that’s less than 0.5 mile away. The delivery is always late and has been at least 40 minutes longer than the hour stated online everytime I’ve ordered something. Decent chippy but book 3 weeks in advance if you want a delivery and you might just get it.

Have been using the golden chip for many years and will continue to do so. The batter is nice and thin and crispy not like some places that use a thick doughy batter. The fish is nicely cooked and you’re not overwhelmed with chips. There may be a slight wait when they are busy but it’s usually worth the wait.
