Palace Saloon - Ferndale

Great little sports bar! The bartender was really friendly gave us a lot of suggestions on things to do and history around town. The beer selection was good. They have a modern jukebox and free Wi-Fi. Plenty of room to sit and a nice dance floor

Tuesday evening was calm and relaxed. Bartender was excellent!

My hubby and I booked a reservation in May for our trip in July. After traveling all day from TN, we drove through Sacramento to make our reservation. We came ten minutes early to find the restaurant would be closed for medical reasons until the day after our departure. While we hated hearing about medical emergency problems, we would have appreciated a call for cancellation so that we would have made other plans.

I received a recommendation for this restaurant during a stay at an Airbnb in Ferndale and boy I am glad I admitted. I visited during the COVID 19 and could unfortunately only pick up food. However, the woman who answered the phone when I arranged was very friendly. I asked her if there were any vegan options on the menu and she offered the Primavera Pasta sans cheese and a few other ingredients. When I picked up the food, I could say that I was there for a treat like the smell of pasta disappeared in the air. Back on the farm when I was finally able to open the carton with my food, I was privileged in one of the best pasta dishes I ever had. Gorgeously seasoned vegetables, perfectly cooked pasta, and a wonderful sauce of garlic and olive oil all tied perfectly to a mouth foundry. This pasta made me happy... so happy that the next day called to get another for dinner. The woman who first helped me remembered me and was always so pleasant. I have expressed my love for the restaurant and Ferndale in general. It is such a pleasant place to visit and all I met were very friendly. The only thing I was disappointed is that I was unable to dine inside. The interior looks like having a lot of history/character and honestly I could have used a drink. But that's not a fault at the restaurant.
