Bidra med feedbackLotus has been on our radar for quite some time. Especially when Dan Hong exploded on Instagram with his home-cook how-to videos during self isolation earlier this year. We saw snaps of the famous cheeseburger make its way around our Instagram stories and finally made up an excuse to go and finally try it (the excuse was to celebrate Anson’s birthday that was in April .<br/ <br/ The whole menu looked fantastic. I wanted to order soo many things but we settled with a few great ones. Our first dish was the steak tartare. It was bursting with flavour and the little cream moment at the bottom of the dish (I forgot what it was just brought it altogether. I might even say it’s the best steak tartare I’ve ever had. <br/ <br/ The second dish was the raw blue fin tuna. I’m a lover of sashimi and this was perfection! The sauce was delicious and the seaweed underneath was genius. I don’t know how this combo hasn’t existed before. The tuna was so soft and instantly melted in our mouths.<br/ <br/ Finally, the cheese burger came out. To be honest I’m not a burger lover. I never eat it unless I absolutely crave it one random day. It all kind of tastes the same. This burger was fantastic. I could tell the love and care that was put into making it. The patty was juicy and the bun was ridiculously soft. It was a good, classic cheese burger. Was it anything different to what I’ve had before? Probably not. <br/ <br/ The fourth dish that came out was the cheese toastie. Now, I was a bit apprehensive about it at first (because how special can a cheese toastie be? but we loved it. Was it worth it? Probably not. Did we feel like we could’ve made it ourselves? Yes. Was it the dirtiest, phattest, most decadent piece of food we’ve had in a while? Hell yeah! And it hit all the right spots. I’m really loving the idea of caramelised onion in a cheese toastie now with a cheese crust on the outside (will note for future cooking .<br/ <br/ The last dish that came out was the wagyu steak. One of the things we said while eating was that the portions here at Lotus 2.0 were very generous. We had a beautiful cut of buttery steak with what looked like a whole punnet of white button mushrooms (my favourite . The steak was cooked to perfection and was a great last bite. <br/ <br/ Apart from these dishes, we HEAVILY contemplated getting the scallop carpaccio, prawn toast Balmain bugs. They just sounded soo good and if I could go back, I would’ve gotten it (ragrets! . <br/ <br/ We ended the night on a nice refreshing dessert. It was yummy and broke down all the heavy dishes we had but perhaps not worth price. It was really just one cup of ice cream at the end of the day, but for $14. We also had a cocktail. It was not bad. Much smaller than I had anticipated but it tasted good. Not fantastic even though the waiter told us they were known for their cocktails. <br/ <br/ Overall, I’d highly recommend the food at Lotus 2.0, we could’ve had the whole menu!
Amazing meal food was unreal (highly recommended pre ordering a lobster with xo noodles), wagyu was perfectly done with delicious flavours and lotus cheeseburger just the most perfect cheeseburger. Service was 10/10 attentive and fun. Can’t wait to go back before the pop is done in December!
His is a really good modern Australian restaurant in Potts Point. My favourite was their signature cheeseburger which came in a brioche bun and a nicely cooked beef patty. We had two of their special dishes which were the truffle tagliatelle and wagyu steak and they were both amazing and delicious dishes. The triple grilled cheese toastie was also really good. For dessert, the chocolate sundae was a must order. Definitely book in advance and happy to come back to eat here again!
Exceptional dishes paired with a well curated wine list and fabulous service will ensure you have a memorable dining experience. Standout dishes included the scallop ravioli, tomato salad and noodles in xo sauce. Highly recommended.
This place is just insane. Every item on the menu is an absolute showcase of Dan Hong's creativity and flavours are just off the chops. The morcilla and calamari is probably the best dish I've had in 2019, and the legendary cheeseburger is nothing short of the best I've had in Sydney. Yes it's a little expensive but definitely not unwarranted, will certainly return for more.
