Fontenella - Fenland

We booked up a table at Fontanela’s with high expectations as the reviews in general were pretty favourable but we ended up disappointed not to mention having an upset stomach. The service was good as the staff were very friendly and happy to please but both our meals were very salty and underwhelming to the point that we both had upset stomach as a result. I had the soup as my starter and was told it was Minestrone but in fact was nothing more than tomato bolognaise My wife had the garlic mushroom which was very oily and she though at one point the mushrooms were doing a back stroke, too much oil. A real shame for us based on what the reviews said so unfortunately we can’t recommend based on our experience.

Had a fantastic evening with friends and my sister at Fontanella's Christmas special night. The food was amazing, the service and atmosphere were wonderful. A group of 8 of us gathered to celebrate like we do every year, this time for Christmas 2023. The turkey was delicious and moist, with plenty of vegetables, roast potatoes, stuffing, and pigs in blankets - a true feast. Enzo, Luca, and Lorenzo made our evening unforgettable. Thank you all. I booked out the restaurant for my upcoming big birthday for 20 people. The whole process was very easy from making menu choices and sorting out seating arrangements. The food on the night was very nice as always, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the ambience/atmosphere was spot on. Would definitely recommend this place for a private booking, it 's a nice size so you can have the place to yourself and enjoy your night.

The ambiance at this restaurant is lovely, relaxed, and informal. The service is outstanding, provided by a friendly family. The food is excellent and offered at very reasonable prices. I would highly recommend dining here.

A group of us went for an evening meal at Fontanellas. Choices are from a set menu with 4 options per course and varied to suit all tastes. The food was delicious! Fresh, well cooked and presented beautifully. I think portion sizes are spot on too! 1 of our party is gluten free and also had choices on the menu that pleased her. The ambience and personalities of the staff also shine through. A great team, attentive and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Overall a fantastic night out and we will all be back!
