Depot Grill - Faribault

I usually consider Depot my favorite restaurant in Faribault but not anymore. The server didn’t check back after our food was served until we were 90% done with our lunch. I couldn’t find her to let her know that the salad and hot vegetables that were listed with my dinner choice weren’t served. Her response was “well you don’t ask for the salad and hot vegetables when you ordered it”. I replied “they are both listed on your menu as part of the dinner and so why do I need to request it as part of my meal?” She was clueless. I am also recently gluten sensitive and the large menu doesn’t really have a lot of gluten free choices. Sad, but after years of raving about the Depot, we Likely won’t be back again. : .

Went to Mother’s Day brunch. The food was delicious like always, however, staff were wearing “Make Faribault Great Again” shirts which obviously correlate to Trump’s slogan. Seeing those shirts kind of dampened the atmosphere. Everyone is entitled to their political opinions but would be nice to not have it at a nice restaurant like The Depot.

The owner came to our table and explained that he's been owner, chef at the Depot for 35 years. Seemed real proud of his place. Gave some good history on the Depot. The did was fabulous. ****** Mary's were fabulous. I recommend the mushroom soup and lobster tacos.

I visited this place a couple nights ago and the food and service were great! I would highly recommend going here.

The Depot Bar and Grill is so cozy, in the old train depot in downtown. The head chef, a very passionate and skilled individual, ensures a level of quality in the food that I can both appreciate and respect. Definitely worth a visit.
