Trattoria 3 Passi - FANO

The food could be decent, but the service is far away unacceptable. No one around to welcome us at our arrival, we had to walk inside the restaurant looking for someone working there. Arrived the waitress, she didn’t give any attention to us but ask us impolitely (scusaaaaaaaa! to move for her path. We sat at the table we booked, wait long before she took our order. Another long wait for getting the wine: she opened the bottle, and filled my mother-in-law glass, before to remind that someone should taste. Awkward moment. And then we waited... for a long time! After 45 minutes the starters arrived. She mixed up between a second plate and a starter, and brought a fried fish (well written as “secondo” on the menu together with the starters. Well, I don’t understand what was wrong in our order: we were 4 persons and clearly ordered 4 second plates. We clearly order in Italian, as Italian is the mother tongue of 3 of us. Why she mixed up, I don’t know. After a moment of confusion (the waitress was already gone, hidden in the kitchen the next table told us they were waiting since ever this plate and it was probably there, so we gave it to them. After the starter, we waited more than an hour for the main course. We repeatedly asked for our food, but nothing happens. When finally the plates came, there was no fried fish: she forgot to ask one more. In the panic, they made one really quickly, to look like they didn’t forgot it. After another 10 minutes, she drop violently the plate in front of me and didn’t excuse or even smile. Worst of it, the fish was raw, not fried for nothing. I left all the plate, she saw it but asked nothing. After all this nightmare, they made us pay the whole bill as if nothing happens. I finished my dinner with a plate of French fries eaten in a fast food of the main square, and honestly it was really better than my whole previous experience in this pretentious restaurant. There are plenty of other excellent restaurants in Fano, please avoid this one.

We wandered past the Trattoria on several occasions and decided to give it a try. The most spectacular thing about the restaurant was the unique lighting fixture which I’ve included a picture of to save you the trip. We tried the cozze al vapore con citronette al limone, gnocchetto integrals alla norma con burrata, and the tagliolino nero con sogliole al Profumo al limone. The cozze are served chilled and would have been better in a warm broth. The gnocchi was a bit mushy and flavorless and the tagliolino was just “ok.” I was expecting the fish dishes to be more spectacular than they were.

Great restaurant with only very tasteful fish dishes on the menu. We liked the styling of the restaurant and the friendly staff. How many bottles do you think are hanging from the ceiling?
