Pikes Landing Riverfront Dining & Sports Bar

My wife and I spent an anniversary in Fairbanks, and chose Pike's Waterfront Lodge as a starting point, leading to a train trip to Denali. The restaurant served well-prepared pub food in a relaxed atmosphere.

We entered the restaurant hoping to have a good experience but instead we got sent away by a rude waitress. Kept fighting with us, and told us “good luck”. Overall, felt so discriminated. They served other customers as they fought with us. Was it because we were all hispanic?

I ordered the Alaskan Ragin’ Cajun which states it has reindeer sausage, hot Italian sausage, andouille sausage, chicken and shrimp in the dish. There were quite a bit of shrimp but I only had one sliver of Italian sausage skin and four tiny pieces of chicken. When I showed my server he talked to the chef who said they would make me another order but I couldn’t wait for or eat another order. I asked for the manager and she stated because I had received some of what was listed in the description they would only take 10% off of my order. I told her that was unacceptable but she would not do anything more. I’ve never seen such an uncaring attitude by a restaurant.

After waiting for a “seat yourself table” and waiting 20 minutes for someone to clean the table from the previous customers we still didn’t receive any menu’s. The waiter said the line out the door was because the food was so good. In my opinion this may be a good restaurant but they are grossly understaffed. Unfortunately we were staying at the hotel next door and had limited options as we didn’t have transportation. Service is just as important as quality of food. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We ate lunch and dinner at this location. Food was very good, however……lunch menu and dinner menu are the same. Prices are the same for lunch and dinner, but the lunch portions were very small. Not a good choice for lunch. The rating is based on the fact that the chef would not serve halibut without shrimp sauce at dinner. Server said no changes were acceptable to the chef. I have a food allergy and needed the change. So I would not recommend this restaurant if you need menu adjustments or a customer friendly kitchen staff.
