Bidra med feedbackWe were a party of 6 travelling in the area and looking to enjoy the best food the town had to offer. After reading reviews of the Resturant and seeing its NO 1 in Wagga ratings we had expectations very different to our experience. The...initial impression of the building was fabulous however the food and the service/training of the staff was very poor. The homemade sourdough bread was tough and poorly risen, the salad and dips very basic in flavour and the meals lacked flavour and basic in finish and cooking . I felt like was eating a meal my teenage children had put together and I was meant to love it as a first attempt at quality fare! I would much rather have had 2 well cooked interesting courses that reflected the price it cost to produce them rather than lots of courses of poor food. Decor inside the Resturant was old fashioned dated and dull. Sad to have to report this but hope it can be used to make this wonderful building and the effort put into the Resturant worthwhile.
We were travelling through Wagga Wagga 1 week ago and tried to get in for dinner but they were fully booked. On our return trip towards home today we tried again and were successful. The area is beautiful with the restaurant located in a vineyard...a bit out of town. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The set menu of $60pp for 3 courses is worth every penny. A mini cob of sourdough with inhouse dukkah (to die for) and oil is served 1st with around 4 slices of bread pp. I'm not a fan of oil on bread so asked for butter which I promptly received. We then got a plate of unusual but tasty canapes. My husband had the baby lamb ribs which were basically cutlets and they were meltingly tender and perfectly cooked. I had the chicken Maryland in Chinese master stock which was excellent. It's served with a Korean paste which I wasn't familiar with and when she said some find it spicy, I requested it served on the side. So glad I did because I only dipped the tip of my fork into the pot and boy, was it hot and spicy. Even my husband agreed with my sentiments. The mains were served with a bowl of delicious plain steamed vegetables (not over seasoned as a previous reviewer said) which included excellent beans. Then came dessert. I had the pannacotta and my husband the cheese platter which was huge. Both excellent. I had a mocktail and my husband tried 2 of their own wines. At $8 a glass, very good value, he especially liked their merlot. We basically waddled out as we were so full. Food was so delicious we couldn't leave any. They sell their oil and dukkah so I bought some on the way out. We'd love to eat there again but it'll be January when we're next planning on visiting our son in Victoria and they close all of January. The following trip then..... Ps. Excuse some of the photos of half eaten food!
Great atmosphere with stunning sunset over the weingut. excellent eating with generous portion some workers must serve better. eating before me and simply saying that you go, your canapes is not how to serve their customers. I need to know what I eat. when it comes to dessert, the personal could ask for something like coffee or tea or whatever to accompany the delicious cake. lost. will I have come back to this restaurant?
We had a great meal. the personal was attentive and that eating very well. would they come back if time and again in the opposite.
We had our high-time reception in 2016 at the Madres-Nest and have been back for various occasions since then. we had a family birthday there, which led to ostern and was in front of the restaurant in the private room. eating was of great quality with a lot of choice. the children were all able to play past the shy doors and felt like we had the place for ourselves. the personal made sure that we were looking for drinks, and we did not rush ourselves because they can sometimes feel in sydney. we were again for large family events and casual dinners as couple and in groups. we always had a quality experience in the magpies nest.
