Anonymous Sushi - Esposende

After reading the single but very positive review, I had good expectations but, unfortunately, the experience was truly disappointing. After asking the waiter about the 14 pieces vegan option, she mentioned that the chef referred that it would be impossible since it would take at least 1hour and a half. That was OK, I should have booked in advance. The waiter recommendation was to combine and adjust several dishes and turn them vegan. That sounded reasonable, so I ordered a miso soup, a grilled vegetable skewer and 4 pieces of california maki, replacing the salmon by mango and vegetables. However, the challenge started there, since to my complete surprise, the chef did not understand when we mentioned that I did not want any animal product. After waiting a considerable amount of time, I was served the 4 pieces of maki with salmon. I received a big apologize by the waiter, who took it back and I waited another half an hour. Half an hour to be served not with salmon but with tuna instead. At this point, I had lost hope that they could understand. Again, I explained and, after 1 and half hour, I was served the vegan california makis. My recommendation is, if you really want to visit this sushi house, you should book and take your time to explain what a vegan meal is. The waiter was nice and helpful. However, her manager lack the knowledge and did not bother trying to understand what they were serving. By the way, in the end, I was at the restaurant for 2h30, more than enough time for the 14 vegan pieces :

I cost the best sushi in portugal. beautiful place with river view. great service by frederico, our waiter. I loved it!

The sushi was really good, but, maybe the price could be lower for the amount of sushi you get and the taste, again, it was good, but too high for what you getting, and we didn't like that they were working on the sushi with their bare hands. Otherwise, the place is really organized and the design is beautiful.
