The purpose of the so-called milk kitchens of the Swiss Federal Railways SBB is to provide inexpensive, healthy meals for their staff. They have been in larger train stations since the Wilhelminian era and are enjoying increasing popularity again thanks to balanced, contemporary preparation. The Milchchuchi in Erstfeld is open to the public and, in addition to a self-service counter, also offers take-away and outdoor seating.

We took the ten hours there between two trains. The person who checked us in was very helpful.

Very tasty food for little money. What I particularly liked was the extremely friendly service. I think the lady's name was Andrea. Really very loving and warm even though there was a lot to do. Kind regards to the family with the car breakdown
