Gut Jagerhof - Erkrath

This seems to have been bought/ taken over by the original owners. It no longer sells local beef, now only Argentine, frozen beef. The steaks were obviously taken out of their plastic wrapping (increases still visible on the flat sides) and simply grilled. Gone... is the taste and presentation. And the famous calf saddle now small, tasteless and fat. We've been here for over 30 years, but not anymore. And it seems that most of the regular local customers have also left them.

We regularly go for both business and private. Nice country. You always get a table without reservation, although it can be a bit crowded during dinner. There should be large bottles of mineral water available that is a must... these days where drinking and driving do not match!

The host/Maitre d’ actually said that! We are a family of 5 with 3 small children under 9 years of age. We ordered steaks, the children's menus for each of the children and drinks for each of us. We were shocked when we started eating like... everything was especially for the kids. The children are, but of course, their drinks had quickly ended because of the salt. We did not want to complain at this point, but had asked for tap water for the children, as we were surprised that the quality of the food had worsened so much since the last time we were there, we did not want to pay 3 euros for small bottles of water. The waiter said they were not allowed because of their boss. My husband couldn’t believe it so that he went to talk to the boss, the host/Maitre d’ and the host said they were successful on the volume and that they wouldn’t change politics because they didn’t need (he also knew the legislators were considering making water mandatory in restaurants). It was when he actually said that her restaurant was like McDonald's volume. Wow! If you pay about 35€ for a steak with one side, then about 15€ for drinks per person, it is definitely not McDonald's. It's really bad because this place was much better before. The steaks are still good, I give them that. But the sides are terrible! 5€ for a small bowl of overlooked and salted paprika, over salted french fries, over salted salad dressing and meat my children could not chew through. Oh, and when my husband asked where her red wine came from, waiter Mosel said shocking because there is no red wine from the Moselle! In fact, the host even confirmed that it was completely wrong that the red wine did not come out of the Moselle. What happened? It seems to be walking too well and they have a lot of business and great reviews, so they are now cutting quality and service thinking they can still generate the McDonalds volume. Well, at least not with our family and we will ensure that we spread the word that it is definitely not worth going there anymore. What a shame.

Have been to this restaurant couple times, the restaurant has lots of seats and mostly you don't need to make reservation. The staff is nice and efficient, the atmosphere is also quite comfortable with good decoration. The price is in acceptable range, but the meat...isn't always meeting the expected quality, sometimes just acceptable. Furthermore, I don't understand why they never try to offer a big bottle water, though their business is running so well and shall not be necessary to make much more profit on beverage. After all, it is still quite a popular restaurant, but I won't consider it as first choice. A visit in couple months is enough. For the price/quality ration, there are sufficient choices.

Okay, the ambiente is not so cozy now, the restaurant is big and everything goes very fast. one has not raised his appetizer salad to half, there comes the lead. So we only put the salat, and when we have eaten it, only the meat. the quality of the meat dishes is really great. we are filet fans and had in all the years (already as a child the elders have gone with us) only a single complaint - which has been absolutely professionally fixed. it's just a steakhouse, you have to have fun on meat. at the entrance you can check everything in a counter. with beautiful weather you can sit with view in the fields very nice outside - very nice, but also hard again.
