Restaurant Waldegg - Engelberg

Can't find out why people say that the good Thai food is. A pad Thai for 40 CHF!!! which had no spices and had no choice about how spicy. It was at least a decent portion size. The restaurant is small and it lacked atmosphere and appetizers were too small, but tasty, definitely not stunning quality or taste, but would still have been overpriced. For a hotel a decent walk over the city, they should offer a better value to attract customers. The service was good and people very pleasant.

Best spicy beef salad and curry I've had for a long time. Best to book as it is very popular on weekends.

We went to Waldegg and it was worth the effort. The decor is modern, tasteful with some beautiful Thai touch. We have booked a few days in advance and have the best table in the corner of the glass window with magnificent views of Engelberg and the mountains. The service was friendly, efficient, but not overlaid. It felt that the staff were still used to the Thai menu. But who cooks surely knows what they do, I have lived in Asia, and this is some of the most authentic Thai food I had in Europe. An interesting and varied menu and not just the standard selection. The portions were large, very fresh and beautiful, and given the quality and ambience also very good value for money. You can pay so much in a standard Swiss restaurant and have a very average experience. My only suggestion would be a greater selection of vegetarian dishes, no one was very sharp, which is more my taste. The wine menu was also extensive and with a good selection of inexpensive bottles. I was surprised that the Siam was not full, maybe it still has its reputation to establish and it is a 20-minute walk from the center. But a very special evening and worth the effort!

Beautiful restaurant (and hotel) on the hill above town with lovely views of the whole of the Engelbert valley. The service here was exceptional, and the food really excellent quality the closest to fine dining I experienced in Engelbert, and not much more expensive than other restaurants in town. Highly recommended, especially for an occasion !

Wir waren zum Wein undDine im Hotel Waldegg. Nach einem kurzen Schwimmen im Hallenbad haben wir einen feinen Aperitif genehmigt. Der herzliche Empfang hat uns begeistert.Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir können das Waldegg als 4 Sterne Hotel empfehlen.
