Bidra med feedbackI have frequented Kenos many times. One thing you can always count on is the delicious and hearty food and well-poured drinks at the bar. The restaurant has a Honky Tonk style, with wooden walls in the cocktail lounge and beautiful glass windows. It is a convenient and friendly place to meet people and hear stories from locals. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Keno offers a traditional buffet with dessert and drinks for the same price as 40 years ago, $3.00. Yes, that's right, it's free. Come visit and make yourself at home at Kenos.
Cheapest place in town or county. So affordable and ingenious for the family and the bar has always a lot of people and free food during the early bird hours. I can feed my whole family for 20 bucks. The only thing is that they open at 4 o'clock
If you're in Encinitas, make sure to visit this place with a rich history in the city. The food was decent, but they may be operating at a slower pace due to Covid restrictions. The bar was a highlight, opening at 6:00 and attracting a loyal group of regulars. Friday night was enjoyable, with friendly and attentive bar staff serving up delicious drinks and cold beer. It's a shame that the place has closed and been replaced, but hopefully we'll be able to revisit it in a different form in 2025.
Food assessment should probably be 3/5 instead of the 4/5 I gave. The food is quite decent and they prepared my steak perfectly. But if I could evaluate value, it would be a 12/5!!! You cannot find a better price for good food in a diving bar anywhere in Socal.
Great atmosphere even better prices. Captain Keno's is a staple of Encinitas. I challenge any local or visitor to find a place with better prices and a more welcoming team. I'll wait. And to think from this writing you only have a year or two left to experience this gem before it's gone. Call me biased but I have been coming here since my parents brought me at 6 months old. We visit the beach from the hot desert of Tucson, Arizona and never miss a chance to visit good ole Captain Keno's. That marks nearly 28 years of $5.99 Keno Burgers w/fries, $2.49 bowls of clam chowder with bread (AFTER the price increased), $5.79 Keno Specials (2 pancakes, 2 sausage links, 2 eggs, home fries, and 2 slices of toast), $3.25 happy hour drinks and the surprise piece of birthday cake when it's your special day. You heard me right the prices have remained impressively affordable for 3+ decades. Believe it or not the pictured box of clam chowder accompanying this review only cost $21. That's 8 quarts. Captain Keno's teaches it's patrons that there are more things to life than profit. We often forget that lesson and the Captain reminds us how to forget the cost and enjoy the moment. With family, friends, or even strangers, Captain Keno's is a positive and filling experience...every... single... time. Thank you Captain Keno's for everything you have been and done.
