Bidra med feedbackI was so saddened as I entered the old 'Edgewarebury '; to see it as it stands today. Even to the loss of the iconic Lions at the doors. It has now fallen victim and suffered the lost of 'elegance and Class ' that it once represented. Even to the non-existent Sunday Lunch (although displayed on the website) I was informed "Sorry, we don 't server Sunday Roast 's anymore, there was no call for them! '. There had been a serious cut-back in staff after the recent take-over (Iwas informed) remaining serving staff were quite delightful but obviously treading an up-hill path. The Sunday lunch I had planned for in the Cavendish Room was now site-tracked to the old breakfast room. This room too once wis wonderful oak paneled walls hideously overpainted in white.
A very pleasant venue for afternoon tea plenty of everything served in relaxing surroundings.
Service was very poor. When we arrived there was no one st the bar. We waited 20 minutes to get drinks. Drinks were served without a tray and handed to us. Going into the restaurant to be seated there was a hoover in the middle of the entrance. I pointed it out and was told that there had been a do the night before and it was removed after we were seated. Only two people were serving customers. If it wasn’t that the food was excellent I would never go there again. When finished I had to go to reception to ask if someone could come so I could pay the bill. It’s a shame at how the establishment is run as it’s a lovely hotel.
Had to wait an HOUR for the main course, which was pretty standard pub food., to be served. Lacklustre atmosphere not helped by incessant muzak. Felt the very young waiting staff (and presumably kitchen) were in chaos. Over £100 for 3 people (no coffees or desserts). Very disappointing experience.
There's an excellent menu here. The chef is really good and the restaurant has a great view across London.
