Bidra med feedbackMy wife and I went here after I got off late from work one night. I ordered a T-Bone steak dinner. I asked for it to be cooked medium. It was brought out to me by the wonderful server, but was gray in colour and overcooked. I sent it back and the manager came over to asked why I wasn’t happy with it. He tried to explain how “they” cook their medium steaks. He clearly had no idea how steaks are cooked universally around the world. I was brought a second steak. I saw it rolling up from 6 feet away and it looked raw on the edge and gray and overcooked on the outside. I complained again and the manager asked if I would like it to go. I told him that I wasn’t paying for it and I would only be paying for my wife’s turkey dinner, which was mediocre at best. The cook in the back was smiling at me as we were leaving and I felt that was disrespectful as he clearly should not be anywhere near a kitchen or employed as a cook. The sunny side eggs were raw when the first steak came and when I first said that I wanted the whites fully cooked, the cook simply scraped off the uncooked whites and sent it back out, which were cold by now. The hash browns were cold also as they were from 15 minutes prior with the initial failure of steak and eggs. Denny’s has got to be the worst place that I’ve ever eaten at in my life!
We were seated right away, always fast service, Lisa was our waitress, and she was amazing as always. Can’t say enough good things about this Denny’s. We don’t live in Edmonton but this is our breakfast spot if we are here.
I came here at 6 pm, Sunday of a holiday weekend. The place was buzzing! I offered sit at the counter, as booths and tables were clearly in high demand, and I was dining alone. I got to observe staff members, very very busy, working quickly and efficiently. For all that, the atmosphere seemed very cheerful, and amid all the bustle, three other staff, besides my marvelous waitress, checked in with me to see how I was enjoying myself. Not to mention, the food was just superb! And I enjoyed being able to have a beer (the Old Style Pilsner, new to me). As I'm from the States, I had never had a beer at a Denny's, nor had I been aware, from previous visits, that Denny's had a presence north of the border. Main point: you have amazing staff at this restaurant!
Today was a very busy grand slam day for the staff but they maintained a good attitude. Some kept coming back to our table, asking how we’re doing and if the food is good. I noticed that the firefighters whose burn society will receive the proceeds for today was very personable, they keep refilling the coffee in other tables. The food was cheap $4.99 for bacon, pancakes, sausage and egg). My baby is allergic to cow’s milk so I asked the staff if the scrambled egg does not have milk but she came back and said she’s not sure but she offered that they’ll make a “real egg” for my baby. After few minutes she came back with a complimentary cooked egg. I appreciate them for doing that. Thanks! Also thanks for the highchair. Your teamwork for today is awesome! Keep smiling! Even my cousin said the people working at Denny’s looked like they are enjoying their job because of the collective cheerful attitude despite the busy fast-paced environment. Congrats guys!
Judy was a great waitress tonight. Very friendly, always checked on us, topped up our drinks when needed and allowed my daughter and us to visit for awhile after our meal was done. Good service was fast. Invited us back the next time we’re in town. Highly recommend.
