Bidra med feedbackMusic is very noisy. Not somewhere for a quiet drink as there are football games/ sports played on TV here. There is a lot of seating but it's still quite busy, especially at peek drinking times. There is outdoor seating for smoker's, with a canopy so you don't get soaked which I thought was great. I wouldn't call this place expensive in regards to the price of alcohol in the capital city. I think all bars/ clubs in Edinburgh are overpriced. The outdoor seating is not solely for smokers, ur just so happened to be reading so it was only smokers outside at that present time. Many other times, on a sunny day it looks really pleasant to sit outside and enjoy a beverage alcoholic or not. You cam just order a coffee here, however, I wouldn't recommend if that's what you'd liked to do then here's probably not the best place to but you can. I think the crowd Malones attracts now is different under the previous management (Diane's pool hall). As I am no pool fan I didn't frequent this venue previously. I would return here but it would probably be better in a group of friends, rather than just two people. My expectations were it would be more Male orientated than it was. It was a great mix of people; males, females, under 25s, over 50s, tourists also. The noise level is the only reason I would be inclined not to come here in the evening, or when there's sports on. It's lovely when the sun is out and sitting outside with a refreshing drink. I'm sure there's an upper level, although I've never ventured that far, probably should. Although someone told me they serve food upstairs? I can't be certain, however, I certainly haven't saw food downstairs. Also I've not used their toilet facilities yest shl can't comment on that. Overall it was pleasant, friendly staff, fairly quick service considering how busy it was, not over priced, quirky interior, outdoor seating is always a bonus for me. I couldn't spend a whole evening here, after 2 or 3 drinks the noise is too much. Great to check it out now it's under new management.
Serving Guinness, Magners, and Murphy's, doesn't make you an Irish pub, predominantly a small room downstairs, nice green faux leather bench seating with high stool seating in the middle, reasonable choice of beers, all keg taps, 3 TV screens showing sports, drowned out by the music, which adds nothing to the atmosphere.
With an Irish name you'd think they'd pour a Guinness properly. All 3 barmen 3/4 poured it then let it settle then poured a bit off tapped the glass on the bar then topped it up. Looked good but body just wasn't in it! Told them too. Unbelievable. Nice place though.
Visited here while waiting for are hotel room . Great atmosphere as we Visited twice more during are stay I can say its a busy pub nice staff well kept bar.
Really nice place. Went up to their second floor to have a drink on a Saturday night and they had live music. The patrons were all singing and dancing along with the singer and band. Good times! Would recommend it for the music and vibe
