Datties - East Staffordshire

Operated by a friend, this restaurant serves up delicious curries and other dishes. The owner is a friendly lady who makes the visit enjoyable. Engage in conversation with her and the locals for a great experience!

Four years ago, I moved to Burton from London and since then, I have been searching for a restaurant that serves high-quality authentic food. I am happy to say that I have finally found the perfect place. The chicken here is not only delicious but the staff are also incredibly friendly.

I stopped for lunch at Datties with my husband and daughter yesterday, we had the Saturday Lunchtime Buffet, we tried all the dishes on offer, all of which were excellent.. The food was freshly cooked and hot the meat was so tender it fell apart when you cut it. The chicken curry was my favourite. Dattie was very friendly and extremely helpful, the rice dish on the buffet contained Red Kidney Beans, my daughter told her that she was allergic to them, Dattie told her that she would make her some Sweet Potato Fries instead of the rice. We will be eating there again.

I had a wonderful experience trying out this unfamiliar cuisine for the first time. It has now become one of my favorite types of food, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. My top choices from the menu are the chicken wrap and Caribbean chicken curry. I also suggest trying the sweet potato pudding - it is delicious!

If you are looking for some proper home cooked food them this is the place to go.. Welcoming staff and very reasonable prices.. The food is unbelievably tasty and if you are new to Caribbean food I would highly recommend the salt fish fritter (my favourite). Next time you fancy a take away or a sit down meal why not try something new and pop down to datties.. You wont be disappointed!!
