Bidra med feedbackI went to the Wishing Well for lunch, and it was quite busy when we arrived. However, we had made a reservation so we had no trouble getting a table. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. The menu had a decent selection of dishes to choose from, but the prices were higher compared to other restaurants/coffee shops we have been to. The carpet was faded and needed to be replaced. One odd rule was that you had to spend at least £15 before you could pay by card, and you couldn't leave a tip for the staff by adding it to the bill when paying by card. In today's cashless society, where most people don't carry cash, this policy was inconvenient. The scones were delicious and the coffee was good.
Visited for the first time a few days ago and was a bit shocked at the prices but the place was relatively busy but free tables available. Hated the sign on the door and on walls just in case you missed it coming in! re unable to accept card payments for anything under £15. £13.90 for two scones with butter and jam, a latte and a cappuccino I thought was a bit too much as the coffee’s, I felt, we’re not that strong and really my latte was like drinking hot milk with touch of coffee flavour. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I will not be putting this place on my revisits list.
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon toasties and tea/coffee. No problems with the quality of the food or the staff, they were young and very courteous. Toasties were served on a salad base which was a nice addition. Will be going back, but maybe by then they might have thought about adding some light background music, as if it's quiet, as it was when we were there, the ambience was slightly lacking as everyone seemed to be talking in a very hushed way.
Visited today having booked a table for 2/30, thinking I had booked for afternoon tea. Was very busy when I arrived with 1 member of staff waiting the tables. When the order eventually got taken I ordered afternoon tea for 2. A couple of minutes later the waiter arrived back asking if I had pre booked afternoon tea. I told him when I booked the table it would be for afternoon tea. He said he had no record of this and as such there wasn’t enough scones and therefore they couldn’t serve it. I then re ordered a baked potato with prawns, he then returns 2 mins later to say there was no potatoes or prawns. I then settled for a bang average toastie ! There was also no milk or no cakes left either. By all means go here if your willing to accept whatever is left on the menu but if not avoid this place at all costs. Have given this establishment custom for many years and I’m very disappointed. Will not be back
Lovely, quaint tearoom. Brought back memories from being there many moons ago. The food was nice but rather expensive for what you get. Soup was delicious but toasties disappointing. I would certainly return with my elderly mother. Most customers are of a certain vintage so it can be rather noisy in such a small space! We were served by a young lady with long auburn hair and a young man. Both were extremely pleasant and helpful. The other young lady with the long dark hair wasn't the best. I ended up with most of my soup outside the bowl when she literally threw it at me. I must commend the good staff members. I also noted that the staff are immaculately turned out. Will return and happy to recommend
