El Ranchero - East Chicago

Been going here for 25 years or better. Love it! Quick service, very affordable, and the food is outstanding! Nice variety on the menu with hearty portions! This place never disappoints! Not the fanciest place but clean and comfortable! Waitresses always nice and attentive!! Neighborhood is undergoing several remodeling projects and will be very nice when finished.

As far as Mexican food goes, this place is it. My family gets together here for EVERYTHING... birthdays, baptisms, going away, etc, etc, etc. We take up the back/side room every single time with no complaints from them ever, no matter how loud we get! The food is very good, comes out quickly after ordering, and servers are very attentive. Also, when celebrating a birthday, it doesn't hurt that they have their own panaderia right next door if you're in a jam. And then in the restaurant, they play Las Mañanitas if you're celebrating a birthday there. It's laid back. It's chill. Just no alcohol.

My siblings and family celebrated my birthday here. The food was great. They give you a heaping portion. It's not fancy or has a new look but it's comfortable. Will come back.

I don’t know what happen...... prices went up a little at first. Didn’t mind because I loved the place. Then they started minimizing the amount of food they give you. This place was always known for how good their food was plus how reasonable the prices for the amount they gave. I ordered tacos today it was barely meat in the taco. Going to stop the amount of times I come here. This place has been around to long to change things now...!!!!!!

My family went their because we wanted Tory out a new restaurant, I had the beef tacos with rice.The tacos were good at first but the aftertaste was very non appetizing I could only eat 2 bites!! If you want real good Mexican food go to Tres Palms!,their food is so good and their rice is fresh and well made.
