We went as a large group to Haliburton for the weekend and decided to spend New Years Eve dinner at Sir Sam's. There were of us (adults and teens) and we had the seating. Unfortunately, we did not get seated until because...the people in early seating were still eating (not sure if it was a food backlog issue or if people just wanted to linger). To the restaurant's credit, they gave us our first bottle of wine for free with dinner. The meal was fixed course with several appetizers, entrees and dessert selection. The souffle appetizer was very good, the soup and wontons were average, the steak were all cooked medium even though some wanted medium rare though the shrimp accompanying was nicely grilled, The tuna was rubbery but the lobster tail accompanying it was nicely done. The berry sabayon was tasty but the lemon/blueberry tart was not very good. One person had the rice pudding and she liked it. The highlight of the evening was the minute firework show outside the restaurant after the countdown. Everyone enjoyed that and it was well done. Maybe it was hard to service during New Years as all the tables were full for both early and late seating.
For dinner Sunday night. Reservations a must. Greated pleasantly and seated. Our server, Sarah was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Wines ordered and served promptly. Menu is varied and great choices. course meal for All loved their choices. Always great at Sir Sam's.

In fact, we cancelled our reservations at Rhubarb which we HAD believed was the only place we could get a very good meal. Now, we know that there's a (limited) choice. Dinner consisted of three courses for
