The Pit Authentic Bbq Durham

This is my first time to the Durham location. It?s a real cool building and very cool ambiance. The food was below average in my opinion. The only thing that I can honestly say worth ordering is the Fried Pimento cheese...it?s AMAZING! Service was below average. I ordered a cocktail and it took every bit of 15 minutes to arrive. I got the beef brisket and it was really under cooked. It was not at all tender. I also got mashed potatoes as a side and it was cold andvery bland tasting. Pork rinds were also ordered as an app, but they came out very stale tasting. These should be fried up fresh at this type of restaurant. I?ve been to many of the local BBQ joints and this place isn?t even close toPicnic or Backyard BBQ...but about 1.5 times the price. Very disappointing.

This was an OK barbecue spot! We came from Va. Beach to taste this bbq and the baby back ribs were very tender, but the pulled pork was very dry before the vinegar sauce was applied. They gave good portions of the mac and cheese and collard greens, but the greens were sitting in vinegar! The mac and cheese was very good and the deviled eggs were the best I ever had! Our waitress was very attentive, nice, and went out of her way to make sure the mac and cheese didn'thave eggs in it for my daughter's allergy! The tea was diabetical sweet and had to have water added to drink it, but sometimes that's what you get with sweet tea! ????

Me and my family went here to try there bbq. I'm a big bbq fan so we like trying different bbq spots wherever we go. The service was fantastic but do NOT go here for good bbq. Brisket The picture attached is me holding a piece of brisket and yes it was a stiff as it looks. It was legitimately the worst brisket I've ever had from a bbq restaurant. Chicken The chicken was fine. They don't really season any of their food outside of some salt and pepper so it lackedflavor. It's not all bad The bbq egg rolls were actually really good. My wife got the burger and although it was extremely sloppy it was pretty good too. Their baked beans were different tasting, it wasn't what I was expecting but itwasn't bad. And I would say the potato salad and the fries were good too. So if you want good appetizers or good food that is not bbq this would be a good stop for you but to be clear, their bbq is not something I would recommend toanyone.

Good experience. some items were great others were good. wait was long and was slow!

Good was great. I missed the Mac-N box because they ran out. otherwise, great eating, great service, great atmosphere.
