Bidra med feedbackJuicy tender meat, but way out of balance. This meat is cooked to fall apart perfection, but i wouldn’t have know it was pastrami if they hadn’t said so. This sandwich is waaaaay out of balance and the primary flavor profile is fat. The bun has been “toasted” (ie fried) in clarified butter, or possibly in rendered beef fat, and the tiny bit of pickle and dill, can be seen, but barely tasted. Each element here is tasty by itself, but for $13.50 sandwich, it hits a single note only (over and over) and could be better composed.
Honestly the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Love their vegetarian options and bringing home bacon from their deli case. Everyone should grab a snack pack and take it to the park!
Everything is delicious and made with care and thoughtfulness.
OND Meats is a TRIUMPH. The food, the service, the care that goes into this food: it's unbelievable. We've eaten here I think every week since they opened, and every interaction speaks true to their vision: We decided that we would take all of our passion and knowledge and create find dining caliber food and shorten the distance between us and our guests, friends, and community The food is AMAZING. The pastrami sandwich is the stuff of legends, but I've never had anything that was short of Wow? Pork schnitzel, caesar, kale slaw, potato salad, marinated olives, and any special they offer (currywrust, french onion soup, short rib.. tastes amazing: care and craft made accessible. A meal from here is always the highlight of my day.The service is PROFESSIONAL: reliable, consistent, impeccable. I've come to appreciate this so much. Running a service-based business during a pandini is hard, so we've had a lot of grace for when our take-out orders are running a little to a lot late at other establishments. Never here! Every single time, the food is wrapped and ready to go almost down to the minute it's estimated. We've never had an error with our order, and the quality is consistent. I just admire this so much. Doing something at such a high caliber so reliably takes so much care and expertise, and you can find that here. The people are NICE. I don't know Joel, Kevin, or John personally, but they make you feel known in the way that only people invested in their local community can. They have a gift for making you feel like you're ordering food from your friends, which is truly special.
The artisanal community in Durham just got a huge boost from these guys at Old North. The house paté is an absolute delight. And the rest of the charcuterie selection is equally fantastic. This is a must visit in the Bull city.
