Bidra med feedbackVisited today after a trip to see the castle. Had the quiche for lunch followed by the cafe gourmand which was the perfect choice as it was too hard to choose which cake to get they all looked so good (of course when the chef used to be the dessert chef in chapter one in Dublin!!! . Everything is locally sourced and fresh. Really friendly mother and daughter owner who chatted to us and suggested other towns to visit on our holiday. A must visit if you are in the area.
We dashed into the old bookshop to get out of the rain on market day. We had excellent service with the owner accommodating our children’s requests which were not on the menu including not adding butter to my daughters bread. I had a gorgeous tomato dish with toast, tomatoes, pesto and tomato sorbet, it was delicious! The cakes and coffee were wonderful too. I’d thoroughly recommend eating here it was lovely food and child friendly with books to entertain the children too. Thank you for a lovely lunch!
We found this little restaurant in a side street of Duras and re weglad we did. Lydia is a lovely person and we received a warm welcome from her. Sandwiches are great but the homemade cakes are truly excellent. Fabulous little restaurant in a very pretty village and is well worth a visit.
Newly opened in Duras, this tea shop reminds you of English tea shops with the comfortable leather settees. Lydie, the owner has worked in London and Dublin, so if your French is a bit rusty her English is impeccable. She is a patissière by trade so the cakes are to die for! She also serves salads, quiches, briskets for lunch so if you want a light lunch with a heavenly dessert, go straight there! She serves the delicious teas sold by Laurent of the comptoir de Marguerite next door, so you are in for a treat if you love your teas. Duras is so blessed by so many quality places to eat in or to shop!
A little gem in a very nice village. The place is cosy (and with air conditioning, which was a real plus on such a hot day! , the owner is very friendly and welcoming, the teas were delicious and, most of all, the pastries were amazing! (Try the coffee and walnut cake! . We got some macaroons to take away, they were also excellent! The place to go if you’re in the region!
