Life in the bay (Cowichan Bay) would have been good enough, but the inclusion of the club in the equation make it perfect nearby! I have played near 50 rounds since last September, in all weather (near). The club only closes for heavy frost, snow and aeration, which has just recently been done. Doglegs, hidden and challenging Greens testability and Savvy. A lot of an 'Approach' course. Well planned recordings are rewarded. I heard it said the mosquitoes are bad here, I can testify on the contrary. If you're afraid of them, and other vampires, not golf at night. Only once I remember that I know of higher concentrations, dawn in the driving area. But this night there was a productive hatch everywhere. Each and all courses are the most beautiful when sunny, warm and dry, the club is exceptional. The only reason I didn't choose 5 out of 5 is because nothing is perfect. But the staff can be trusted. Beside being a hidden gem, it is also one of the best pros of Vancouver Island. If you're fighting with any aspect of your game going see Stormin Norm! It's worth noting that I'm a member not only because of work. The club offers several round game packages that work better for me personally. So do yourself the generous favor and do not drive on the highway, drag in, you will not regret it!
After 18 holes on a very L O N G golf course went to late lunch. Had the soup (Beef Barley) and sandwich (Pulled Pork)....SO good. The waitress was excellent and was very proud that she was all there (except the bread)... Homemade is a good thing!
Had a great afternoon!! Much with Golfnow. $15 walking rate). Course is in amazing form. Greens were fast and challenging. Water hazards in the right place. A few strange hole layouts where you go into upcoming drives. Everything about fun!
Went with a group (about 30 people). The meal was a choice of beef burger, chicken breast, fries, Caesar salad, condiments etc. Cold plates, cold buns, cold chicken which had the texture of leather, the salad was sodden with dressing and soggy (just like canned spinach). Fries were good. I requested vinegar and the server was surly. Chocolate squares, buttertart triangles and carrot cake offered for dessert. Coffee was fine. I had a piece of carrot cake. It was dry, stale and inedible. I noticed many of the plates being collected by the staff had lots of food left on them. It was the same poor quality offered to this group a couple of years ago. I shall not be back.
