Bidra med feedbackWe arrived in the early afternoon with our grandchildren. My friend spoke with someone at the visitor center who discouraged us from visiting the roundhouse because of the kids' presence (ages 6 and 11). We opted to explore the church ruins and graveyard instead, where we could catch a glimpse of the elusive roundhouse from afar. The graveyard was particularly intriguing, with some very old graves.
We stopped by the café, which was empty, and received terrible service upon entering. A staff member greeted us with a brief "Hi" before returning to a conversation with the cook. It took quite a while before she came back to take our order. We were instructed to sit anywhere and wait for her to return with menus, but we never received them. After a few more minutes, she finally returned and told us to look at the board for the menu options. The limited choices were soup and various sandwiches. When my partner asked for a ham and cheese sandwich (which was not listed), she was rudely told that it was not available. This was the last straw for us, and we will not be returning to this establishment due to the unprofessional and rude service we received. The emptiness of the café should have been a warning to us.
While on vacation, I was in search of a place to enjoy a coffee and snack. I had a delicious toasted sandwich with salad and a coffee. The service was excellent, and the food was served nice and hot. I would definitely return if I find myself in the area again.
Good selection of tasty eats. Good little café gift shop too with some locally produced crafts available to buy.
We were too late to have a guided tour but I had a very interesting time looking round the ruins....the man at the visitor centre was very friendly and helpful ....and didn't try and push me out as 5 o clock approached. The Priory really is a must see with the importance it had as a pilgrims site for centuries attracting Scottish kings to it.
