I was looking for a good venue to have a family catch up and Sunday lunch, so I decided to make a reservation for 4pm based on their online menus. We received an email advising us to arrive 15 minutes early, but we ended up getting there 30 minutes early to order a pre-meal drink. Despite being early, we were told to wait at the bar until our table was ready. Eventually, we were seated in a quiet corner as requested. We weren't told if waiter service was available, so we ordered drinks and food through the app. After waiting 20 minutes with no communication about our food, we asked a staff member and they showed us food vouchers on our receipt. The restaurant was packed with a long queue, and the hot buffet table was messy. The pork had no crackling, the mash was lumpy, the roasts were hard, and condiment dishes were empty. The service was lacking and the quality of the food was not worth the price. We managed to finish our main course and ordered 4 desserts through the app. After 30 minutes, a staff member hadn't checked our order on the till but asked us about it. The desserts arrived 10 minutes later. When it came time to pay, there was an option to leave a tip for service. Overall, if we hadn't paid upfront with our orders, we might have considered leaving before finishing our meal.
I did not enjoy the breakfast at all. The plates were cold, the black pudding was dried up, and the fried eggs were not fresh. The food replenishment was poor, as I had to dig deep with a spoon to find some beans. The toast was only crusts and there was no butter. There was no kitchen staff available, only one person running around cleaning tables and serving at the bar. By the time I got back to my table, the food was cold and congealed on a cold plate. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Was such lovely food and lovely service! Maxine was so nice and polite, made us feel very welcome. Would definitely come again.
At one point there were five members of staff having a chin wag at the host while 2 people have a que at the bar. When we asked for condiments, the waiter listened to one person went alright and walked off while others were asking, which just came across plain rude and people didn 't get what they wanted. The restaurant wasnt even that busy, and it still took nearly 50 minutes to get our food. The food was mediocre at best. Menu states fries, but you get massive stodgy cold chips you 'd find in a 90 's primary school cafateria. No one checks the food is okay despite having at least 5 staff members on the shop floor, which it really wasn 't. There 's enough greese on the pizzas to run the entire kitchen for the day. The chorizo on the burgers, funnily enough, tastes exactly like peperoni. We had to clear our own glasses multiple times, so we had space on the table. Is there any point in having any waiting staff? The team clearly dont want to be there and barely any of them can crack a smile or have really any customer service skills. It all reflects in the service you receive, which was poor !
