Bidra med feedbackThree of us arrived to have lunch just after 2pm. There were two tables free and clean in the front porch area and we indicated that we would like to sit at one of them. A surly waitress told us we had to sit inside as they were cleaning the table we indicated. We pointed out that the table was cleared and wiped but she said they were cleaning the floor. We said we would sit inside ‘for the moment’ and she said ‘for the moment’ She literally threw three menus on the table and walked off. We chose off the menu and waited for the floor to be cleaned at the table we requested, but despite two other waitresses working there was no attempt to do it. Bear in mind the floor wasn’t particularly dirty anyway… we waited about ten minutes for our order to be taken and in that time nobody came near us or was the floor cleaned. So we left and went around the The Glenside where we were greeted with a very pleasant waiter and had a delicious lunch! We won’t bother Howard’s Way again, as we experienced dismal customer service.
I was in howards way with my mum a while back and it was less than disappointing. We went for a breakfast and I ordered the Eggs Bendict Special, once the food arrives it was awful!! The Crispy Bacon was an over cooker irish rasher that was more alighed with a tough piece of leather and thr hollandaise sauce had a mustard flavour to it. I brought to plate back to the service station and asked some something else. I then ordered the chocolate pancakes. My pancakes arrived and they were flat and the chocolate suace was cold sauce on the side. The only positive aspect if this experience was the nice and polite wait staff. Howards way in Churchtown is a far cry from what we experienced in Rathgar in the past. Simple mistakes with my dishes. Hollandaise sauce should not have a mustard flavour, crispy bacon should be American style bacon night a leather sole and pancakes should have been thick and fluffy not cold and flat. The head Chef, mangers and owners coukd doveith visiting other restaurants servicing brekast around Dublin.
We go here on occasion and have noticed the rude attitude of the owner on previous occasions. Today our chicken was undercooked when we raised our concerns the waitresses on duty only offered to knock one drink off the receipt. I understand the owner was not there, and had he of been I would of been concerned the outcome as in previous occasions his ignorance and rudeness was very apparent I felt for the girls working there. He barks at them. I would no longer recommend here and I believe they are only still running due to some of the staff and or loyal locals.
I have been a long-standing breakfast goer. However, each time I have gone recently you’d be blind not to notice the appalling behaviour of the owner, Declan. He is the rudest owner that lets down the otherwise fine staff and reputation of what once was a nice family breakfast spot. He is aggressive and rude. The way he speaks to staff and costumers alike is a disgrace that I can no longer ignore and continue to give money towards. My most recent visit was the last straw. We asked a lovely young waitress if we could sit at an outdoor table as it was very busy and just became free. When she went to get bits to clear and clean the table the owner shouted at us ‘who said you could sit there’ in front of the whole restaurant. His manner was extremely off putting and I actually felt concerned to say which waitress it was. He continued with aggressive mannerisms which I didn’t appreciate such as pointing at us and the new table. It’s disappointing to see unhappy staff with a high turn over along with a decline in the quality of the food (there was eggshell in my eggs Benedict). There seems to be only one person to blame, the owner.
Usually a tradition for our family to come Here on each birthday, breakfast is great, over the past few visits the owner has been the most ignorant man I’ve even encountered in a restaurant, I’m not surprise to see others on this saying the same. He’s vile to his staff and customers. He makes it such an uncomfortable atmosphere. We will not be back.
