Black Bull Inn - Drogheda

Felt I had to write this have spoken to staff. Overall experience gone downhill we’ve been coming here 20+ years. Place is lacking cleanliness, toilet absolutely disgusting it’s the 2nd time reporting to staff members. €5 for bowl of chips which took 20 minutes to come to table on a quiet day.One Staff member very rude when approached about wait on food.

Very good food and pleasant barman with well made beverages made for an outstanding evening! Will visit again next time we visit Drogheda.

Although the bar was not full we had to wait for more than 1 hour to get our food... food not up to the standard what they are asking for. 36 euro steak, nicely cooked ser ed with 3 cherry tomatoes and some leaves of rocket lettuce... for that money you can eat much better elsewhere!

At this point in the saga of The Black Bull words almost fail me. This review of a once great bar is not based on the last visit, but the last several visits over the past year… An establishment whose brilliance I previously shouted from the rooftops, sadly now has become a whimper. A bar/restaurant that boasted vibrance, atmosphere, friendliness a local; is now sadly long gone. All that seems to be left are the walls that once screamed liveliness. The local beer taps gone. The excellent menu – gone. The champion wings gone. The quality – gone. All that’s left is a dreary afterthought, a building pretending to be what it once was. The staff, that changes every time you go in now try their best, in fairness to them, but to no avail. A shadow of what it once was. The last visit was about 3 weeks ago and it was quite busy but instead of the spirited local, all that was offered was an air of cheap deodorant. I recently found out that the owners purchased another premises a while back and that is where their priorities lie now. That, explains everything.

Stopped for light bite to eat at lunch time.. was only given the three course a la carte menu. Coffee lukewarm, had goats cheese salad and friend had fish and chips. Poor quality for both. Salad had a few pieces of orange and seven pieces of the rind.. with no orange on it..was this for decoration! Batter on fish soggy. Decor tired looking during a sunny day. Used to go here years ago but won’t be back. Expensive for what we got.
