Bidra med feedbackMenu was very poor, I had a Pannini with a side salad and crisps, my wife had a sandwich with a side salad and crisps, the salad was very poor consisting only limp lettuce with a dressing, bad service, we really should have got up and gone else where.
3 of us called at 3.40pm today (Friday 31 May) for drink and cake. Unfortunately we were told that as they ‘had been quiet today’ they had decided to close early, there were two members of staff about so we could quite easily have been served. Well that is three more people who will not be returning so business will remain slack. Cakes looked good but can’t comment on taste or value.
I decided to take my husband to this place for tea and cake after hearing great things about it. However, from the moment we walked in, the server seemed confused and stressed. I placed our order and was told it would be brought to our table. Unfortunately, there were no available seats inside, so we had to sit outside on the cold patio. We waited what felt like a long time for our order to arrive. When it did, the drinks were hastily placed on the table without any sugar offered. The chocolate cake we ordered was dry and overly sweet. I don't think we'll be returning and wish I had read other reviews before coming here. The server could definitely improve on his customer service skills. It didn't feel like a welcoming place at all.
Used to enjoy this tea room. It was lovely and quaint and a proper tea room experience. What 's gone wrong??? Firstly the decor revamp it has had is poor. It 's lost its character. Then when we ordered our food the staff seemed confused and flustered despite there only being 3 customers in the place. We were certain the lady before ordered the last remaining plain scone but When we asked they said they had 1 left...so we ordered it along with 3 cakes and some tea. It turns out the last remaining scone had been ordered but they gave her a cheese scone by mistake. Despite us hearing her order the plain scone they insisted she ordered cheese and couldn 't change her mind....erm your mistake not hers. We sat down feeling a little guilty we had got the last scone in such a way only for it to arrive with no cream as they had none left. The young man serving simply passed me 70p as a refund and said I hope that 's ok ....not much choice really? They also managed to bring the wrong cake so that was 2 people in a row they got the order wrong for...can 't imagine if it ever got busy....it would be chaos! The guilty feeling quickly left as the scone was very dry, as were the cakes. If those were home baked then I 'd be embarrassed to claim it personally. Just to top off a great experience there were no spoons left so we had to stir our tea with a not very clean knife....we also bought 4 bread rolls for our BBQ but they were too dry to eat...not good at all. Real shame as this used to play be lovely but something has gone badly wrong!
I had been eager to try out the Tea Room at Branton Nurseries, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The overall decor was uninviting and lacked atmosphere. The selection of cakes was limited to Rocky Road, Scones, Poppy seedcake, and fruit loaf. None of these options seemed particularly appealing. I ended up just having a cup of tea, which was decent, although it could have been improved with some extra hot water as it was quite strong. I used to visit this place when it was under different management and always loved the delicious cakes they offered. The family that runs the nursery is very friendly and helpful, and the quality of their plants and shrubs is top-notch. However, the Tea Room fell short of my expectations and I will not be returning in the future.
