Phoenix Vietnamese Cuisine - Derby

I really wanted to like this restaurant given so many rave reviews but I was disappointed taste-wise and would honestly put this amongst the bottom of my list of Vietnamese food options in Ct for now...Service and atmosphere were great, but food underwhelming! I tried a range of foods including their grilled pork sandwich, special combination pho, combination fried rice, and combo vermicelli (bun dac biet). Starting with the sandwich- was surprised that it wasn't a more traditional style with pate and the works but that was on me! That would have been fine if the sandwich portion was very small and the pork supremely salty. Tried to wash down the saltiness with Pho, only to find it salty as well. Some may like it but warning that their broth is much more herbal than most I've had. This is up to your Pho preference. The fried rice and vermicelli were generous in portions but the fried rice seemed such a mish mash of everything, typical frozen vegetable mix. and the bacon on top threw me off. It was average, but I wouldn't get is again. Honestly the only thing I could recommend is the Bun/ vermicelli- which was plentiful and flavorful. I want to give this place another chance given so many people's reviews, but the price to flavor ratio I had has me hesitating...

As a viet personality , this is probably the best pho in Southern CT. The wings were also flavored well. I’d like a touch more sweetness to the food. About $15 an entree

The spicy pho is fantastic we never experience this kind of pho before in Asia. Wasted a lot of napkins its spicy but cant stop eating it ????, Me and my wife love it so much. The original pho is also very good, tasty broth. The service is excellent, he is super friendly and funny. Highly recommended to make a visit here.

Our first time eating here and it’s close by to where we live. Super happy very friendly, very authentic, delicious tasting food. I will be coming back all the time now.

We know most, if not all, Vietnamese restaurants in CT and I must admit that this one has been the best so far. Truly homemade, right and fresh ingredients, all churning out great tasting food!
