Bidra med feedbackOur local walking group (typically 45-55 members) chose The Robin as a starting point for a weekly walk. We meet about 10 am; have a 3 to 4 mile walk and return to the starting point around 11:30 for refreshments. Despite our organisers reserving the date in advance when 40-odd people arrived after the walk, the doors were locked and it took 10-15 minutes to gain access. One member of staff then gallantly took nearly 45 minutes to serve everybody, although fair to say a goodly number left and went elsewhere. I wished we’d had a better experience as it’s always great to recommend a local hostelry, but sorry to say that wasn’t possible on this occasion.
I just have to do a top score review to counter Steve's 1 star review from a month ago. I can understand his disappointment if he walked a long way to the Robin, but locals know that it has been closed for complete refurbishment and relaunch with an Indian dimension to the menu. We are impressed by the effort the new owners are putting into it and are waiting excitedly for its reopening.
Very disappointed. I walked to this place on a warm Saturday evening. To find it was shut. It took me and my friend a good 45/60 minutes to get there. The sun was shining we had walked past the great northern, which was packed. Thought I hadn’t been to the robin in a few weeks. My friend has never been and I had told him how nice it was and that it had recently been took over. So we thought we’d have a walk up from mackworth to check it out. We eventually got there and there was no sign of life. Doors shut blinds pulled and this was at 7.30 on a Saturday evening. It was around 21 degrees outside glorious sunshine and absolutely no one around. So we kept on walking into mickleover. Hole in the wall, the nags and the binary all absolutely rammed. Just very disappointing to find a pub not open during a peak summers evening.
Great atmosphere for Halloween..no atmosphere..no customers.. landlord looks likes he has been dug up.. personality of a corpse.. more life in a pebble... apart from that lvely pub
Went as is usual for our lunch. Normal cook not in that day so we had meal provided by a temporary cook.Waited slightly longer than usual before meal arrived. Presentation of meal was not as good as normal and although edible it did not give us our normal enjoyment. Hopefully things will be back to normal next time we visit.
