Double H Candy Land - Denison

First time I have had brisket and didn 't need the sauce! The Bar-B-Q sauce is good, like it with the sausage, I think the brisket can definitely 'stand alone '....don 't forget about the Texas Twinkie!

Best BBQ in Denison and Sherman. Great BBQ and Great Bake Beans and Coleslaw. Very clean and friendly place. This is my favorite BBQ place. Try it. You will love it. They sell out fast. So go earlier.

I am not a frequenter of BBQ places, even though I like it. For some reason, it just never occurs to me to eat it. However, passing Hickory House while driving around historic downtown Denison, it intrigued me. I just never seemed to find myself driving by it when it was opened. However, one day for lunch, my desire for BBQ was just too overwhelming. So I sought it out and gave it a shot.The layout and decor was classic BBQ and made me comfortable from the minute I entered. Of course, it smelled amazing. The options were plentiful, but I stuck with my standby BBQ sausage, which is usually my indicator of a good BBQ place (sorry, I'm not much of a brisket guy). I was not disappointed. The sausage had great flavor, the sauce was delicious and the sides were amazing. I loved the beans. The downside was the cucumber salad, which was entirely saturated with more vinegar than should be consumable. Other than that, I cannot wait to have it again. It is a fantastic option for this deserted area of good restaurants.

Hey, this is a pretty cute little spot! Our brisket and ribs were delicious and the portions are generous. We ate out on the patio which was very nice. I don't know the history, but I see from other reviews this place has been around for a while and is a local landmark. We were there for a weekday lunch and it was busy with local men who had obviously eaten many a meal there. The staff is friendly and kind. If you have a hankering for barbecue, this is your place!
