Bidra med feedbackWonderful location for a birthday celebration, there were 9 of us booked in with a two course Sunday lunch voucher and glass of wine. We waited in the bar until our table was ready and we were taken to our table; almost immediately we were asked what meat we would like. We went to ask if the two courses were starters and mains or mains and desserts the server wasn’t sure but explained that we could have our starter after our main as he had taken our order?? I explained that we would like our starter before the main and he said he would give us 5 minutes and come and take our starter order. Unfortunately this didn’t happen and our main meal came out first! Sunday lunch was beautiful although we did have to ask for extra vegetables as one plate came out without any vegetables! Service REALLY let the whole lunch down, there appeared to be no communication between the person taking our order and the kitchen. Disappointed that it was suggested that we have starters after the main and that the main waiter didn’t know what our voucher included. Could do better.
We went for afternoon tea…..from start to finish we didn’t have a good experience here! Dark gloomy room and only 1 table with 2 chairs and a bench with cushions! The tea was so weak and wasn’t very hot! The array of sandwiches and cakes weren’t presented very well, seemed to have just been thrown on too the plates! All in all very expensive for what we got! Wouldn’t go there again! The girl who served us was very pleasant and wasn’t to blame!
I had booked an afternoon tea as a special treat for my friend's birthday, based on a previous visit several years ago where the experience had been very good. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed by my visit today. The afternoon tea was served in the back bar, not in the restaurant, and it was without a doubt the worst I have ever had. The sandwiches were decent, but the scones were warm yet dry and heavy, and the cakes were awful - dense and heavy. I would not recommend this place, as there are other establishments that offer better quality and value for a lower price. I will not be returning, as this experience was simply awful.
My partner and I dined at this restaurant while staying at the hotel. We were pleased to see that the Food Standards Agency rating has improved to 4. Although our meals were tasty, there were a few minor issues that could be improved with more care and attention (such as slightly overcooked fish and grapes that were past their best). Overall, the meal was satisfactory, but with a little extra effort, it could have been rated as 'Very Good'. The only disappointment was the Gambas Pil Pil starter, which was more like prawns in a spicy sweet and sour sauce rather than the traditional dish. However, the staff handled the issue well and provided excellent customer service.
Had a voucher for the afternoon tea sadly we were very disappointed. Won’t be going again. Asked for a box to take home the scones we hadn’t eaten and were told we can wrap them in foil but haven’t anything to put the cream but did give us a small butter pat. It was also very cold so much so husband didn’t take his coat off!
