It is a bit disappointing that the popular Dutch hospital complex nearby has overshadowed this famous old-time bar. Located close to the harbor, the bar attracts seafarers from visiting ships, giving it a cramped yet authentic atmosphere. Situated on the cellar level of a hotel, the bar can be reached by a dark staircase. Over the years, the seating area has expanded to now include about 10 tables. Prices for food and drinks are on the higher side, but the experience is worth it.

Tap Bar is one of the longest standing pubs in Colombo, located within the Grand Orient Hotel with views overlooking the Colombo harbour. Access to the pub is only available from outside the hotel, leading down to a cellar-like underground space that is dark and cozy. The pub is air conditioned and allows smoking, offering a selection of local alcohol at affordable prices. While they do not carry luxury or high-end brands, buying a bottle here is inexpensive compared to the slightly pricier dishes on the menu. The food is of good quality, prepared by the same kitchen that serves Goh. One of their standout promotions is the offer of a complimentary signature cocktail with the purchase of a bottle. Overall, Tap Bar is a great spot for locals and tourists alike looking for a laid-back pub experience.
