Laneway Cafe - DARWIN CITY

While visiting Darwin I ate here at the recommendation of several locals.

Just had lunch, even though I work a couple of doors down for the last few years, first time was today. Lovely friendly service and my meal was really nice. I had the Chicken & Cashew Nut which appeared to be freshly cooked and was certainly not short on cashews. Will definitely return.

We went as a group for dinner. The food took a long time to come out and there was really no service for drinks along the way. Most of the food was good. My Thai beef salad was a bit bland. It just needed more dressing. One of the guys got lamb shanks. It was still cold in the middle of one of them. They offered to cook another within 7mins (which concerned me). Bottom line is the food is cheap, large and generally tasty so if that's all you want then you'll be happy at Mellow.

Dying for something very spicy and intense I went here alone and asked the waitress for her recommendations for Very spicy. She quickly chose a few dishes, being a lovely coconut prawn dish, and a vegetarian. I added the chicken wings as an entree to start with. The veggies arrived with the rice, followed by the prawns, and then the entree? All the dishes were Luke warm (temp) and extremely mild (chilli). There was an overpowering taste which I couldn't quite decide if it was lemon grass or coriander, but it was too strong. I must admit the service was lovely and efficient, but the food was 6/10 at best.

My wife and I came here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were friendly and efficient and, in addition, our respective meals were delicious.
